Embracing Change and Diverse Skill

I started by building this website from scratch during the Covid-19 lockdown, it was free research time with minimal distractions.

It was an adventure which started with making mistakes and getting it right as I progressed.

I remember writing storybooks as a child, I would tear my school book, and draw cartoon characters in between the stories, but this came with an expensive price. Only my Nigerian readers can relate.

The unforgettable beating: the best tool for raising children who failed to understand books was expensive, the correction tool for stubborn children…Not knowing I was discovering myself.

I liked adventures, cartoons and films with musical drama. This shaped my ballet dance skills as i never saw the gate of ballet school.

I still dance to date when the occasion presents itself. Impromptu when I am enjoying a worship session. Seen by only those who open their eyes.

Irrespective of size

My passion to study law at the University despite the odds that stood before me. God’s finger coupled with determination helped me scale through.

In legal practice, I told myself ” you cannot do things the way everyone has been about it (in a positive way)”. I must carve my niche.

I started out by creating legal forms and templates as they fit the practice area I am focusing on. Set up my office on Google business,

Started notarial jobs physically and progressed to doing virtual notarization shortly after the COVID-19.

I have been up and about doing litigation and corporate commercial jobs, but still not satisfied, I yearn for higher heights. A little with public speaking, virtual meetings and lectures.

The virtual hearing in court was another mile Stone achievement for me. The first case I prepared and planned to do a virtual hearing on was comatose by an objection raised by the Respondent Counsel in 2021

Alas, another opportunity presents itself, and I, without hesitation, took the bull by the horns. The set-up and the virtual hearing proper were successful. The pre-trial session also went well.

Distance is no longer a barrier. Though people strive to embrace change. Change is now not tomorrow. Embracing change is very vital, being prepared ahead while waiting for the opportunity is key.

I will never forget that saying “…when preparation meets opportunity, success is inevitable.

While setting up a day before the sitting one of the male court staff was amazed at the way I was working with the tools.  He expected I would beacon for help, but the more he looked, I was accomplishing the task seamlessly.

He could not help it, he walked up to me and asked, lawyer are you also an engineer?

I smiled and responded yes by association. My Late Dad studied electrical electronics and whenever he worked at home we would look closely.

I tell you, growing up, we looked to live in our house as my dad and mum would always ask you to be around when different tasks were ongoing.

Thesame approach (Look and Live) I learnt how to cook local and continental dishes and even hair dressing including braids.

So from a tender age we (my siblings and I) looked to live, he would even take us to his building site weekly the workmen carried out different jobs. Also when the car is faulty, we stayed by the Repairer till it is fixed.

I learnt from the best dad ever, my dearest PAPA.  Engr. Johnson Ojenikoh Omongagah Always on time was another good trait he instilled in me. 28th January 2024 will be ten (10) years since you left. I miss you Dad.

The setup was done a day before, and we did a test run The following morning 8:30 am we did another test run before the court sitting at 9 am. The virtual hearing went hitch free.

The Court Sitting

No man survives as an Island, even the island needs people and things, animate and inanimate to bring out its beauty. The roles of different participants has brought me here.

The Clients who believed and still believe in me that I hold the solutions to their legal challenges, giving me the opportunities to dare. Thank you.

If you the clients are not here, the exploits I have dared to make would never have presented themselves. That is why I handle every case with maximum seriousness.

My team was and still are very cooperative. Thanks to Ovoke for understanding me and following quietly.  I missed my Personal Assistant Chika, but I understood she had to be off work this week.

My husband’s support behind the scene cannot be looked away. His help, prayer and the encouraging words he speaks has always added strength to me in this journey.

My siblings and my Mum…you all are too much. The calls helps me navigate through life challenges unwavering.

My children who understands that mummy has just a few hours in a day to rechout and fellowship with us and must be given her alone time to be highly productive the next day. You both are dear to me.

My friends and acquaintances who now only see me on social media bear with me. I came to realise that it is the price we pay as adults, 24 hours seems not enough to handle the task in a day

The Lord my help, all that I am today is by your grace. The wisdom I display is not from man but from a close walk with the Holy Spirit.
